Big Data PPP: cross-sectorial and cross-lingual data integration and experimentation

Next eiura Forum:

25th of July 2016, 15:45 to 16:45
Lisbon, Portugal
In conjunction with the he 5th International Conference on Data Management Technologies and Applications (DATA)

The eiura Forum provides a series of events on current ICT related topics and EU Horizon 2020 funding calls. The event provides an ideal opportunity to meet other delegates with their own problems, experiences and solutions. Innovative Research proposals are presented and discussed. Case studies and experience reports will give delegates the opportunity to learn from those who have already implemented world class approaches and solutions.

Horizon 2020 Call: ICT-14-2016-2017: Big Data PPP: cross-sectorial and cross-lingual data integration and experimentation

Europe lacks a systematic transfer of knowledge and technology across different sectors and there is an underdeveloped data sharing and linking culture. Traditionally, data has been collected and used for a certain purpose within sectorial "silos", while using data across sectors for offering new services opens new opportunities for solving business and societal challenges. The lack of agreed standards and formats, and the low rates of publishing data assets in machine discoverable formats further hold back data integration. The fact that textual data appears in many languages creates an additional challenge for sharing and linking such data. Finally, there is a lack in Europe of secure environments where researchers and SMEs can test innovative services and product ideas based on open data and business data.

The challenge is to break these barriers and to foster exchange, linking and re-use, as well as to integrate data assets from multiple sectors and across languages and formats. A more specific challenge is to create a stimulating, encouraging and safe environment for experiments where not only data assets but also knowledge and technologies can be shared.

Aim and Scope

The eiura forum series will help researchers, practitioners and companies to navigate through the challenges in searching and applying for European and National Funding. The funding topics addressed in this forum cover the ICT technology in a comprehensive way, detailed key topics are listed below.

Key Topics

(1) Exchange information and experience about the funding application

(2) Networking and constructing consortium

(3) Lessons learned from EU funding applications

(4) Explore more funding opportunities

(5) Views from the proposal examiners

(6) The key processes to develop a proposal

(7) Challenges in developing consortium, managing and coordinating projects

Join us to hear from successful applicants, proposal experts and EU proposal examiners, discuss how these topics apply to your case and leave with realistic methods for improving your funding application.

Speakers & Participants:

We are inviting researchers and practitioners to express their interest to speak or participate at the next eiura Forum.

Submission or expression of interests should be send as Text File, PDF or MS Word to info@eiura.org

A small number of proposal will be selected for presentation and discussion at the one of the next eiura Forum. Proposals will be evaluated on their potential for funding, innovative idea and collaborative research opportunities.
